Beginning of My Journey

Updated: Nov 16, 2020

Hello everyone! So here we are again, I have started maybe...10 blogs in my lifetime so far? And even more websites. I seem to think in waves, one minute thinking 'I NEED a website and I must make one this particular way' and then a month or so down the line I think 'I don't really need a website anymore, I can just use something else'.

What makes this time different? Well for a start I am hosting this site and blog on, which is surprisingly bloody easy to use! The reason I decided to do this is mostly because of Katnipp and the fact she uses Six to host her site and other sites, plus there are other YouTuber's I follow who use Wix. So far, so good on that front! There are a couple of things that have stumped me, or not behaved in the way I thought they should, but I have luckily found other options or work-arounds to help.

Another reason this time is different, I am unemployed for the first time since I completed my degree in 2011. I am unable to work a conventional job, so I want to create a job for myself in my website, blog and Etsy shop, selling illustrations and goodies related to that. Essentially like a drawing version of Jessica Kellgren-Fozard (check out her YouTube channel, its fab!).

Originally was a lifestyle blog that I started in 2016. I wrote a few blog posts (which I did manage to backup, but not the correct way, so I have had to sift through hundreds of lines of database code to pick them out...!) these were mostly about things like journalling, including bullet journalling, planning, and other lifestyle related things. With this new blog I am now hosting on here, I want to incorporate a bit of everything (I know, riches are in the niches, or so they say...Doesn't rhyme in British English by the way...!).

I have taken the first most from my old website and then kinda changed it into this. But in 2016 I had started Bullet Journaling, and something called The Miracle Morning. I have only been doing it for a week to two weeks at the time. These were extremely helpful tools which helped me plan and create the kind of life I wanted, at the time. It's interesting to look back and see how we have evolved over the years!

One of my goals was to start a blog to show you my journey from the start, through to when I become successful (so full disclosure, if you didn't know already - it didn't work). I wanted to prove that if I can do it, anyone can (I will do this!). It's extremely difficult to look at someone successful, when you are at the beginning of your journey and visualise 'that could be me someday'. Hopefully this blog will be able to give you insights from me, so wherever you are on your journey, there will be a post for you! I have and will also record some YouTube videos on my journey into the world of creative business-ship :)

Current Reality

I'm not the healthiest when it comes to food (huge comfort eater), I suffer from severe depression and anxiety, and I was also diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) back in June 2019 (could explain why my anxiety is so overwhelming). On top of that I am one of those people that have ideas but have no idea how to make them a reality (luckily I have a lot of help and support in place with this, as its an executive function problem.

This is where Bullet Journaling and The Miracle Morning came in for me back in 2016. Those tools allowed me to become more productive. Writing down the things I want to do, and devising a plan to make them a reality. Personal development is something I work extremely hard on. This is achieved through reading books, online courses, watching videos and then putting these skills into practice.

One of my ultimate goals would be, and still is, to work from home for myself. Earning income through my website/blog, illustration work and passive income streams (because everyone needs to diversify!). This will support my family, give me the freedom to do what I want, without having to try and change to satisfy others wishes, and most importantly, add purpose and meaning to my life, so I don't feel like I'm drifting through life doing nothing but taking up precious room. I am going to make that dream a reality by putting my plans into action. Including starting this blog! I feel super excited and positive about what the future holds. I am in full control about what can, and will, happen.
